Our client, Pentair Water, engaged Invetech to develop an automatic rainwater controller (the WaterSwitch) that prioritises rainwater for everyday household applications.

The device works by detecting tank-stored water levels which, when available, are prioritised over mains water ensuring consumers have a reliable water supply for necessity water demands
Our Ingenuity
There are specific challenges with such devices; most important is to ensure there is no possibility that rainwater (which is classified as grey water) could ever flow back into mains water. Our unique design ensures the highest standard of backflow prevention whilst avoiding high losses in pressure, enabling the WaterSwitch to be used in a broader range of applications, specifically the filling of washing machines.
The WaterSwitch was also designed in consultation with industry professionals ensuring it was rugged enough to withstand the rigors of installation, can withstand the harshest of outdoors environments whilst being very rapid to deploy; plug and play electronics enable it to be fully functioning within minutes of installation.
Your Advantage
In a little over 12 months from launch, the WaterSwitch became one of the most successful products in the Pentair range, with growth far and above forecasts. It immediately took a significant slice out of the rainwater harvesting market.
